Tashi really enjoys being upside down and teaches a lot of people to enjoy handstands. We are all at different levels though and the hardest thing is getting the feet of the ground. This tutorial gives quick tips on how you can get your feet off the floor using blocks, a bolster and the wall. As a way of grounding your attention into your body, Tashi leads you through a freeform flow of movement - a moving meditation. This is an easy-going session to explore coordination challenges. Tashi invites you to find a sense of balance, from the physical towards the emotional and psychological. During this session there is an ongoing invitation to experience balance between right and left, front and back but ultimately between body and mind.

Tashi explores how you might prepare to practice forearm balance, Pincha Mayurasana. Being mindful not to go too far at home, this sequence sets you up with strengthening and stretching exercises that you can explore in your home or studio practice. You'll open up the chest in various ways, strengthen the arms and use props to get yourself ready to do the full posture. Only do the full posture with a wall or a support person if you are not able to stay up without falling. Be safe and have fun! Props needed: a belt, block and a blanket.

This may be an unusual session for you but why not secure a private space and join her in the process? When you start this class you might feel a bit silly or self-conscious but over time you may find that you can trust the process and fall into the deep calm. This is perfect for those who are starting to use voice-work in their practice or teaching and is an open invitation to simply explore a range of sounds. Tashi explains and demonstrates and teaches us how to approach Ujjayi breathing - the Victorious breath. This is a breathing technique you will come across in most Vinyasa practices and all Ashtanga-based classes. Tashi offers precise instructions, as well as creative visualisations, to guide us into an ongoing relationship with this powerful breathing technique.

This session offers a whole range of ways to approach Bakasana (Crow pose). You will be guided into all kinds of exercises to develop the strength and awareness to find your Bakasana with props, or jump into and out of Bakasana in a flow. Tashi loves sharing tips for a quick reboot during the day. There are so many ways we can restore ourselves to enjoy a stress-free, calm state and these exercises are some of Tashi’s favourites. Do this practice on an empty stomach but perhaps not straight before bed. Tashi shares Kapalabhati breathing, shaking, Sun salutations, stimulating movements and stretches, then some body rocking to rest.

This sequence stretches and moves the hands, neck, shoulders and chest. Tashi shares this great series of movements that you can do any time and anywhere. Many of us sit and slump for too long during the day so these stretches counteract the habits of hunching. You might do this whole sequence regularly or just discover which movements are beneficial and do them regularly. Enjoy! 

Tashi shares her personal favourites for developing functional flexibility. In order to move slowly we need to be quite strong and this session gives you an introduction to some exercises you might incorporate into your regular practice. We are likely interested in developing our capacity to live comfortably in our bodies into a ripe old age by practicing yoga and becoming overstretched will not do us any favours. As much as we might benefit from light and regular stretching, we only need a range of movement or flexibility that is functional. These exercises might cause cramping in the muscles at first, so go lightly and stop and release if you need to. Cramping will pass if you explore these exercises regularly.

Tashi leaves you in Savasana so if you want to stay longer in but have time restrictions, you might set yourself a timer. This session will benefit any inversion practice you are exploring.

Tashi offers tips for calming down your nervous system, wherever you are and whatever you might be doing. These simple techniques will hopefully support you when you’re feeling agitated, uneasy, scared, fretful or anxious and they can start to take effect fairly quickly when you get into the habit of using them. Let Tashi know if they help or if you have other techniques that are worth sharing with us... Let's all calm down and feel stable and at ease with whatever is happening within and around us. You'll need a couple of blocks and 2 tennis balls for this practice.

This is an experimental flow which explores simple movement postures to embody ‘Ullola,’ meaning 'wave' in Pali (an ancient language used in some Buddhist texts.) We move and then pause to simply experience the effects. The spine and joints may well thank you for this practice and, if nothing else, you'll get in touch with your inner dancer! The class begins and ends with the Om mantra. Enjoy the flow.

Take rest with this guided relaxation. Relaxation is an important part of maintaining health and wellbeing and being able to deal with life’s stresses with a sense of mastery and ease. Many of us feel a continuous 'busyness' and sometimes it's necessary to take support to relax. This relaxation with Tashi might give your system a chance to take a break, release muscle tension, lower blood pressure and improve digestion.

Tashi offers her top ten toning exercises for building full body strength. This is a challenging session so take your time and take rest if necessary. If you want to repeat any of these exercises, press pause and restart as you go. Be careful and mindful. This is a good class to do regularly to build strength but don’t 'binge practice' as you may cause injury... Better to go slowly and steadily!

Tashi shares tips to boost the strength potential in your regular practice. She demonstrates how you might value-add to your Sun Salutations and postures by adding one of 3 variations: going slowly, being static or repeating the action. She guides a flow that explores all of these principles so this is a very strengthening practice that you could do regularly. You might do this class to check out Tashi's tips then simply add the principles to your home practice. This practice is a good one for new teachers who are looking for suggestions and add-ons for their own classes.

Tashi shares a sequence to find a sense of freedom in the hips and the pelvis. If you are feeling tight or stagnant perhaps this enjoyable sequence done in a slow flow can shift the stiffness and invite a sense of ease. Tashi also shares one of her favourite mantras, 'Lokah Samastah Sukhinu Bhavantu' - may all beings know a sense of ease as themselves.

If you need a daily yoga practice, this class covers the basics. This session will wake you up, stretch you out and get you ready for anything! A minimal approach means it’s not quantity that matters - but quality. You might like to have a couple of blocks, a blanket and a bolster to hand.

This session is one of Tashi's favourites - a safe and effective all over body reset, inspired by the CARs method (Controlled Articular Rotations). Tashi has adapted this method, which she uses every day before her yoga asana practice. This series of movements is helpful to get you ready for anything! It's a fun and playful session which will support safe and co-ordinated practice and movements in daily life.

Tashi guides a practice that you can do on busier days. 10 minutes of breathing (Sama Vritti pranayama), 10 minutes of moving (asana) and 10 minutes of meditation (mindfulness). An all-levels, simple sequence that can be done any time of day.

Tashi shares her best tips for developing a daily self-practice for life. You can imagine that your practice is like a garden; every teacher you study with will offer techniques which are like seeds that you can tend in your garden. Some of what is shared with you will grow easily, some of what is shared you may weed out... it's yours to keep and yours to look after. If you develop your self-practice you will always find the time and place to practice without needing always to go to a studio, nor be guided. Tashi opens this session with a mantra from the Heart Sutra scripture ’Gate, Gate, Paragate, Para Sam Gate Bodhi Svaha’. This is a Buddhist dedication to fearlessness in the search for wisdom.

Some days we just need to rest and flop around and this session will show you ways to do your practice even when you just want to lie down. Tashi demonstrates how you can do some of your favourite standing poses... lying down! If you don't have the energy to do your favourite postures today, just do them on the floor! Tashi guides you with mantra, slow breathing and long-held releasing postures to relieve the agitation and stresses of the day. The Buddhist mantra is a dedication to the Medicine Buddha for intentional healing. The words are ‘Tayata om Bekanze, Bekanze, Maha Bekanze, Radza Samudgate Soha'. Tashi leaves you in relaxation at the end of this session so if you would like to monitor the time, remember to set your alarm...

Tashi has been asked by many of her students what she recommends they do before the start of a yoga class, so she shares with the EkhartYoga family what she does to prepare for a session. Includes a grounding and awakening play with Kriyas (Kapalabhati breathing and Uddiyana Kriya) followed by some quick stretches for the hips, quads, triceps and shoulders. You'll need a couple of blocks for this class.

Tashi leads a hip opening class to share tips and progressions for insect pose (Tittibhasana or Firefly pose). Don't expect the hips to open in one session but if you do this class a few times along with your regular practice you may enter this world of hip opening and deep forward folding. Well, you no longer need someone to offer you a massage; with a couple of tennis balls you can shift and free your own aches and strains! This how-to session might not be helpful if you have inflamed tissues, recent surgery or injury but if you are experiencing regular general stiffness it might be simply wonderful.

Are you a teacher or an enthusiastic practitioner who'd like to learn some trade secrets for adjusting some of the more challenging postures? Tashi has been leading workshops, retreats and mentorships around the world for years and has come across thousands of new students. During this time she has developed many great strategies to allow early practitioners to experience challenging postures; not to push people beyond their capacity but to offer some insight into postures many of us treasure.

This is a challenging and strengthening class to help improve your ability and method when playing with handstands. Tashi is a handstand enthusiast and loves to share the tips and tricks to get your practice away from the wall. There will be some postures in this session that you might not be able to achieve at the beginning but stay safe, be diligent and you'll see improvements over time. Repetition – and having fun! – are key here...You'll need two blocks for this class.

Tashi creates a space for us to enjoy deep listening to the experience we are having and tools for contemplative practice. There are definitely a few surprises in this one!

If you are feeling in the need for love, this is the perfect self-love practice. Tashi offers a lovely short and soft flow which leads into a Metta meditation to support resolve, peace of mind and a loving heart. 'Metta' translates as loving kindness. The meditation ends with a short mantra, the words are 'Lokah Samastah, Sukhinu, Bhavantu' which is translated as 'May all beings be happy'. Hope this allows your peace and happiness to blossom and grow.

Tashi starts us off with some slow deep hip openers and builds us into some deep and unusual twists. Once you're all warm and open you can have some fun in arm balances like Koundiyasana, Galavasana and Grasshopper. Bear in mind, these are quite challenging poses so stay safe, don't push too much; you might have to do this sequence several times over time to gain the flexibility and strength to play like this. A word of advice... you can easily fall out of these arm balances so clear some space around you, use cushions if in doubt and if you enjoy this kind of practice, seek out a teacher to show you more.

Tashi shares the Ashtanga version of the Sun Salutations A and B with a slow and deliberate workshop style to refine your understanding and feeling for the postures, the flow and the transitions. If you want to learn the basic sequences or refresh your approach to the movements then this class is really valuable.

A grounding practice to invite a smooth mind-space using an age-old Buddhist mantra Om Mani Padme Hum. 'Om' as vastness and scope, 'Mani' the jewel of our generosity. 'Padme' our wisdom mind and 'Hum' grounding our practice. Tashi grew up using this mantra as a guide to recognise innate wisdom and generosity. Her mother was a student of Lama Yeshe in the 70's, until his passing in the mid 80's. You could start this mantra practice with this video support then keep it going in your own time.

A challenging, fun flow to explore some arm balances - including standing and seated postures like Bakasana, Koundinyasana, Parivritta Koundinyasana and Pincha Mayurasana. Tashi shares several great core strength postures in this energizing and strengthening flow. Be courageous but careful as you play with this flow at home.
